These agates occur in the “Border-Carnelian-Horizon” near  Kronach in the Franconian Forest, Upper Franconia. In the Sollinger Sandstone and the Chirotheria-Sandstone (famous for carnelians and agates from Schöngleina/Thüringen) are building here the Upper Sandstone. In this rock carnelian geodes with mega-quarz formations can be found. Specific locations for these sedimentary agates are Vogtendorf, Weißenbrunn and Rotschreuth. Very interesting is the agate-variety “Arcadian-agate” .
