From this location in the Spessart Mountains Lithophysae do occur (e.g. star-shaped agate-formations in spheres composed by rhyolithic or phorphyritic rock ). The agate-colours are brownish to reddish. Besides conventionel fortification-banding “Uruguay-type-banding” does occur too.
Best findings were made in the 1980ies. At the moment in the quarry no findings of agate are possible.
