This place is well known to collectors from the township of Idar and to tourists which are visiting Idar-Oberstein because of its agates.
The best findings here were done in the 1970ies. Because of the high interests it has become very difficult to make good findings today. Before entering the fields you should ask for permission.
Agates from this area show very often a spherulitical pattern. The colours from this place are reddish and white in combination. Typical for this region are “Membrantrümmer-Agates”.
