Homerich is the name of the hill between Oberstein and Hammerstein. Rockhounds are able to find here some very interesting and specific agates. Those agates are coloured reddish-brown and white and are showing a nice fortification-pattern. The occuring nodules are mostly filled with a tiny structured jasper, that is showing under microscope pseudomorphic formations of chalcedony after carbonates. Agate-formation is a minor part in most of the nodules. The occuring agates are from an non translucent, porcelain-like typus. Secondary colorization is sometimes shown in discordant banding in the nodules. Very intersting are the findings of a fine agate of the holospherulitical typus and of a jasper wich is reminding the grape-agates from Utah because of its orbicular structure.
