On the hills around the village Meisenheim a few places do exist where old gravel from the river glan is deposited. This river was bringing agate-bearing material from the Saar-Nahe-Region.

Those water-worn pebbles are having smothed edges and a colorization by erosion. On the outside the nodules are showing sometimes a bit of the internal structure.
