The township of Imsbach is well known for its middle-aged copper- and silver-mines. For agate-collectors the mountains around Imsbach offer one further treasure: at the beginning of the Katharinian-Valley is a location of amygdaloite with intensively coloured agates situated.

Characteristical for this location are the intensively red and yellow colours in combination with strong blue colours.

Very often beyond the agate nodule there is a spot of silifized vulcanic ash. This ash is responsable for the vesicle above, because the vulcanic ash was gas-bearing.

Today collecting of any minerals in this historical site is not allowed !

In connection with this deposit are the agate-findings at Langheckerhof.
