The gravel-pit from Wetterschlick at Bonn is one possibility to look for agates from river Rhine gravel. Here the possibility does exist to collect agates from all agate-bearing areas the river passed trough. The agates occur as pebbles and are all heavily edge smoothed. They have a discolorization of the original colours by erosion and a secondary colorization by iron-pigments. It is a favoured game of the local agate-collectors to find out the origins of the agate-pebbles - wether they are from Saarland, Schwarzwald or Palatinate.
