Colombia was until the last years “Terra Incognita” for agate collectors. Mr. Stubenrauch acquired the first collectors items fortunately in 2005 on a holiday trip.

Those agates are originated from the region of the river Rio Magdalena that is flowing between the Central- and the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes Mountains. The next bigger city there is Neiva in the Huila County.

Most dominant colours here are orange and red. Porcellain-colours in pink and creamy are common too.

The “water-level-pattern” is a common structure besides fine developped fortifications.
